Haley Chitty, MA, LCMHC(QS), LMFT, AAMFT-S
Who I Serve
I work with adolescents (ages 15 and older), adults, couples, and families who are navigating relational distress, mental health challenges, and significant life transitions. I also have extensive experience serving individuals and families engaged in cross-cultural ministry.
I offer counseling for concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma recovery, burnout, marital distress, family conflict, relational challenges, and the emotional strain that can accompany seasons of transition or ministry life. I delight in seeing people gain not only relief from symptoms, but also find greater wholeness, renewed hope, deeper connections, and a stronger sense of purpose.
Professional Experience
I have been providing counseling services since 2011 across a variety of settings, including a family medical clinic, a local church, and private practice. In addition, I spent more than a decade serving the global Christian worker population through an international, multicultural nonprofit organization in Thailand.
I am currently a Doctoral Candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision and have recently served as an Adjunct Professor and Supervisor in the Counseling Department at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary–Charlotte.
My Counseling Approach
My counseling approach is client-centered, collaborative, and compassionate. My work is primarily informed by attachment-based, experiential, humanistic, and systemic frameworks. I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and I incorporate additional therapeutic approaches when clinically appropriate. The counseling process is individualized to each person’s unique needs, goals, and pace.
Faith and Spirituality
My background includes a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary–Charlotte, vocational ministry experience, and years of serving those in international missions. Issues of faith and spirituality are welcome, and often vital, in counseling.
Licensure & Credentials
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of North Carolina. I am also a Qualified Supervisor with the NC LCMHC Board and an Approved Supervisor with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Clinical Supervision
In addition to providing counseling and marriage and family therapy services, I offer clinical supervision for graduate students and provisionally licensed clinicians in the United States and abroad.
