How I Help
We all carry implicit stories about ourselves-some that foster growth and resilience and others that create shame and disconnection. As a counselor, I create space for these hidden narratives to be safely voiced, witnessed, and transformed. I work from a psychodynamic perspective, meaning that I place particular emphasis on how our earliest relationships unconsciously shape the way we understand ourselves, others, and the world. My approach is also influenced by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), which blends somatic (body-based) therapy with psychodynamic principles. AEDP prioritizes deep relational connection and moment-to-moment tracking in session to help clients break free from painful emotional cycles and access lasting change.
About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I hold an M.A. in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in psychology from The Ohio State University. I am also a current doctoral student in UNC Charlotte’s Counselor Education and Supervision program. I am a Level 2 AEDP therapist and EMDR trained. My background includes four years of experience in a nonprofit integrated care clinic, where I provided psychotherapy to a wide variety of clientele, including immigrants and refugees.
As a Houston native, I grew up captivated by the linguistic and cultural diversity that surrounded me. In response, I have developed fluency in Spanish over the past two decades as a way to connect more deeply across cultures. My therapeutic work is grounded in sincere respect for cultural identity and the power of language. You’re welcome to work with me in either English or Spanish.
Specialties
I am passionate about supporting clients who have lived through trauma and its complex effects, including dissociation and personality-related challenges. I am experienced in helping individuals with histories of sexual abuse and assault, developmental trauma, intimate partner violence, and acculturative stress/immigration-related trauma. I also work with clients navigating bipolar disorder and other mood-related concerns. As a seminary graduate, I welcome the ethical integration of spirituality into therapy when requested.
