Dr. Nicole French, Psy.D.

Dr. French sees teens (15+), adults and couples, diverse in ethnicity, religious identification, social class, gender, and sexuality. She collaborates with individuals who desire a deeper felt connection with self and others. Dr. French is inspired by interpersonal neuroscience findings which offer considerable hope and advanced understanding of our biological capacity for healing, post-traumatic growth, and thriving. These findings influence the way she lives and practices her profession.

Dr. French graduated from a psychodynamically oriented graduate program in 2006 and has received training in numerous evidenced informed practices to support recovery from trauma and mental illness as well as improved wellbeing in all domains of life. Over the last two decades, she has applied her clinical psychology education and training across a variety roles within clinical, non-profit, and government sectors.

Dr. French is invested in life long learning and consultation and has benefited from in person training events from many leading experts to include Dan Siegel, Susan Johnson, John and Julie Gottman, Diana Fosha, Stephen Porges, James Finley, and others. Dr. French works from a theoretical framework informed by her psychodynamic and systems training and her interest in relational psychotherapy.

Dr. French is a collaborator with clients invested in cultivating a robust relationship with their embodied self in conversation with an intimate partner, meaningful work, and/or community. Therapy is an investment of time and money into a process of noticing and upgrading adaptive patterns of thinking, feeling, and interacting that no longer keep one safe or cultivate the experience of joy and peace in relationships. Research suggests that novelty and intensity are needed to rewire neural connections. Consequently, Dr. French recommends weekly sessions at a minimum for individuals seeking lasting change. For couples, she offers 90 minute sessions, which research suggests is more effective than brief sessions.
